GORTNER — Rev. Charles E. Teets, 86, of Gortner, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009.
He was born Jan. 3, 1923, in Tunnelton, W.Va., the son of the late Enos Coleman and Charity Maude (Wiles) Teets. He was also preceded in death by his son, Steven Teets; brother, Harold Teets; sister, Edna Spiker; son-in-law, Larry Cohee; and nephew, Gary Shahan.
Charles was a very loving and giving husband, father and friend, and was a pillar in and around Garrett and Preston counties. His work on this earth will last in the hearts of the many who knew, respected and loved him. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are the love of his life, his wife of 65 years, Mary R. Teets; his son, Charlie Teets and his wife Sharon of Oakland; daughters, Cheri Cohee of Antioch, Tenn., Linda Wilson and her husband Yogi of Oakland; sister, Maxine Shahan and husband Richard of Nutterfort, W.Va.; brothers-in-law, Charles Trickett and wife Ruth of Kingwood, W.Va., William Trickett and wife Rhea of Tunnelton; sister-in-law, Wil-ma Teets of Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson, Jonathan Seth McRae Jr.
The family of Rev. Teets would like to thank everyone who helped us through this very difficult time in our lives. Special thanks to his “Monday Morning” prayer breakfast group, Rev. and Mrs. Steve Sauder and the Gortner Union Church congregation. Special, special thanks to friends Tom and Margaret Doyle, Ray Sellers and Ernie Gregg.
The family will receive friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland, on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Gortner Union Church with the Rev. Steve Sauder officiating.
Interment will follow in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of memorial donations, in his name, to the Goodwill Mennonite Nursing Home of Grantsville.
