Charles “Sonny” F. Rader [Keyser]

KEYSER, W.Va. — Charles “Sonny” F. Rader, 80, of James Street, Keyser, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.

Born on July 26, 1929, at Akron, Ohio, he was a son of the late Fred McKee Rader and Lyda Beatrice (Wilson) Rader. He also was preceded in death by his stepmother, Dempsy Rader; two daughters, Saundra Jean Rader and Barbara Ann Miller; one brother, George Rader; a half brother, Robert Rader; and two half sisters, Lucille VanCleave and Pauline Mitchell.

Mr. Rader was a machinist, being first employed with Ellicott Fabricators and retiring from Flex-O-Lite Corporation. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of Boyce-Houser Post 41, American Legion, Nancy Hanks Post 3518, V.F.W. and Chapter 9, D.A.V., all of Keyser. He was also a member of the Sunnyside Church of the Brethren, New Creek.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Bertha M. (Smith) Rader; one daughter, Bonnie L. Rader of Keyser; a son-in-law, Steve Miller of Keyser; a stepbrother, Glen Marshall of Fairmont; two half sisters, Linda Gillman and Patsy Wright, both of Harrison, Ohio; three grandchildren, Mike Miller, Chris Miller and Melanie Hunt; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. James “Sonny” Dodds officiating.

Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
