MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK — Allen Leonard Murphy, 81, of Mountain Lake Park, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at his residence.
Born Feb. 28, 1928, in Turner Douglass, W.Va., he was the son of the late William H. and Lucy (Bowman) Murphy. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Reckart) Murphy; two brothers, Leroy and James Murphy; and two sisters, Susie Powell and Wilma Baker.
Mr. Murphy was a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving are one son, Dennis A. Murphy, of Oakland; two daughters, Connie Mohr, of Mountain Lake Park, and Donna Dunson, of Terra Alta, W.Va.; one brother, Harley Murphy, of Oakland; four sisters, Helen Whetzel, of Oakland, Carrie Benson, of Oakland, Nellie Poland, of Oakland, and Dolly Moats of Terra Alta; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland, on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the Oakland Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Art Evans officiating.
Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
