Clarence Grady Doyle [Meyersdale]
MEYERSDALE, Pa. — Clarence Grady Doyle, 77, of Meyersdale, Pa., died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at Golden Living Center, Meyersdale, Pa.
Born July 6, 1932, in Millington, Mich., he was a son of the late John and Myrtle (Medlin) Doyle. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Iva Miller Doyle, two brothers, Robert and Jack Doyle, and two sisters, Rita Stemick, and Hazel Pardue.
Grady, as most people knew him, was a cement finisher by trade. He loved working with horses. He was a member of both the Appalachian Wagon Train Association and the Mountain Top Wagon Train Association. He attended Summit Mills Grace Brethren Church. He and his wife helped several teenagers through difficult times and many of them resided with the family for various lengths of time.
He is survived by six children, Rebecca, wife of Gary Spiker, of Meyersdale, John and wife Norma, of Springs, Mim, wife of Stanley Housel, of Salisbury, Floyd, of Meyersdale, Barbara, wife of Jeff Law, of McHenry, and James and wife, Julie, of Meyersdale; one foster son, Tom Freese, of Erie, Pa.; fourteen grandchildren, Chris Caton and wife Mary, of Slippery Rock, Lonny Doyle and wife Jessica, of Salisbury, Jeremy Doyle, of Meyersdale, Matthew Doyle and wife Jodi, of Salisbury, Adam Spiker, of Meyersdale, Kenny Housel, and wife Dana, of Salisbury, Jessica Spiker, of Meyersdale, Patrick Doyle, of Springs, Jamie and Jen Doyle, of Meyersdale, Stephanie and J.P. Law, of McHenry, and Michael and Lindsay Doyle, of Meyersdale; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Eugene, of Millington; a sister, June Diener, of Vassar, Mich., and 61 nieces and nephews.
He will be missed tremendously by his family and friends, but will be remembered for helping others.
Friends will be received Sunday and Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, with the Rev. Matt McCoy officiating.
Cremation will follow the services.
