OIL CITY, Pa. — Clifford W. Kern, 81, of Oil City, formerly of Patterson Creek, W.Va., died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was the son of William A. and Catherine Elizabeth Kern and was preceded in death by two brothers, William A. Kern and Lowell G. Manning; and one sister, Blanche L. Sullivan, along with his beloved wife of 50 years, Nancy.

Cliff is survived by three sons, Jeffrey and wife Naomi of Tampa, Fla., Scott and wife Donna of Hamden, Conn., and Kurt and wife Stephanie of Stow, Ohio; eight grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Naoto, Elizabeth, Jacob, Mad-eline, Noah, Amy, Joshua and Rachel; and a special friend and companion, Joanne Krag.

His body was cremated and a memorial service was held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Oil City on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009.
