Truck travels out of control

Robert Taylor of Cumberland was injured Monday when he lost control of this dump truck on Knobley Road south of the Short Gap Volunteer Fire Company. West Virginia State Police said Taylor suffered a medical problem, causing the truck to travel off the northbound shoulder where it struck a utility pole, tree and pickup before coming to rest against the side of a house. The occupants were not at home at the time of the 10:45 a.m. crash. Short Gap, Fort Ashby and Wiley Ford volunteer firefighters responded along with a paramedic unit from the Cumberland Fire Department. Taylor, who was driving for T. Hersh Construction of Mouunt Savage, was taken to Memorial Hospital by Short Gap ambulance. Further details were not available.
