BRUCETON MILLS, W.Va. — William C. “Chuck” Pretzel, 56, of Bruceton Mills, W.Va., died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
The son of the late Emil C. and Hilda Blamble Pretzel, he was born June 29, 1953, in Oakland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Pretzel; a sister, Frances Carroll; and three brothers-in-law, Russell Williams, Donald Carroll and William Northcraft.
Chuck was instrumental in organizing and sponsoring benefit poker runs for the Disabled American Veterans, the Red Cross, and various other organizations. He was employed for 20 years by ICG, Patriot Mining Division in Morgantown. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, trapper, and was a true Nascar fan. He was affiliated with the Glade Farms United Chapel.
He is survived by two sons, Jason S. Pretzel and his companion Megan Clark, of Bruceton Mills, and Miles S. Pretzel, of Bruceton Mills; a daughter, Rita R. Pretzel, of Bruceton Mills; a grandson, Cole Pretzel, whom he enjoyed very much; two brothers, Robert Pretzel and spouse Nancy, of Bruceton Mills, and David Pretzel, of Bruceton Mills; five sisters, Helen Burke and spouse Frank, of Cumberland, Onalee Weslow and spouse Ronald, of LaVale, Darlene Nine and spouse Ronald, of Bruceton Mills, Arlene Northcraft, of Cumberland, and Sheila Seese and spouse David, of Bruceton Mills; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, from 10 until 11 a.m., when services will be conducted in the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Reed officiating.
Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery, Bruceton Mills.
