Frostburg rolls over Pitt-Bradford, 11-2

FROSTBURG — Brooke Winterling smashed 25 kills and the Frostburg State volleyball team defeated Penn State Behrend, 3-1, to win the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III volleyball tournament.

The conference championship was the third in a row and 10th overall for the Bobcats (30-4), who won by 18-25, 25-17, 25-21 and 25-19.

Winterling finished with 25 kills, 14 digs and four blocks, while Sarah Stephens also had a big match with 17 kills, 12 digs and a block. Sabrina Winterling added 10 kills and four blocks, Chelsea Wassell had seven kills, two digs, one block and the team’s only service ace.

Jamie Thomas had two kills, nine digs and two assists while Brittany McVearry 13 digs and Amber Winterling (had eight. Kylie Carrington handed out 59 assists and posted 10 digs.

Penn State Behrend finished with a 22-10 record.
