CUMBERLAND — Clarence Junior “CJ” Pryor, 77, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, Nov. 4, 2009 at WMHS- Memorial Campus.
Born Aug. 25, 1932 in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Ernest E. and Virginia (Sirbaugh) Pryor. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, June (Shambaugh) Pryor; one brother, Raymond E. Pryor; and one sister, Virginia (Pryor) Beckwith.
Clarence retired from the Chessie Railroad after 36 years of service, mostly working out of Brunswick. He was a very loving man, who loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him. Clarence was very outspoken, but also very gentle and had a heart of gold, especially when it came to his grandchildren. He was also member of the Cumberland Moose and the American Legion Brunswick Eagles 1136. CJ served in the Marine Corp during World War II.
Surviving are four sons, Brian Pryor and friend Teresa, Winchester, Va., Keith Pryor and wife Sue, Cumberland, Ronnie (Pryor) Shambaugh and wife Stephanie, Cumberland, Gregory Pryor and wife Rhonda, Cumberland; one daughter, Debra Ramsey of Pennsylvania; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters, Paul M. Pryor and wife Barbara, Cumberland, Robert Pryor and wife Donna, Short Gap, W.Va., Roy Pryor and wife Marsha, Cumberland, Mary L. Miller and husband David, Patterson Creek, W.Va., Sandra Peer and husband Howard, Short Gap, Harden and husband Wayne, Seneca, S.C.; one brother-in-law, Donald Beckwith, Chester, S.C.; and one sister-in-law, Bettye Pryor, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, (www.scarpellifuneralhomes.com) on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
