Names announced for Keyser athletic complex facilities
KEYSER, W.Va. — Names for several facilities at the Keyser High School Athletic Complex were approved at Monday’s meeting of the Mineral County Board of Education.
The field house at the high school will be named the Richard B. Schwinabart Field House Complex, after the owner of D&L; Coal Co. Inc. Skip Hackworth, Mineral County superintendent of schools, said Schwinabart “donated a lot of time, effort and money to construction at the facility, and the school worked with (his) family to make this honor to him.”
The softball field will be named the Ron Mathias and Friends Field, after the owner of the inspection company MEGCO.
Other topics discussed included the placement, resignation and retirement of various personnel. A request to advertise for a school counselor, who would serve Elk Garden, Burlington, Fountain and New Creek primary schools, was also approved.
The suspension of a staff member was also affirmed. According to Hackworth, the staff member was suspended for a violation of Board of Education policy. Hackworth declined to make further comments while a criminal investigation is ongoing.
No further information was available from the Mineral County prosecuting attorney.
