Hardy County woman killed in Grant crash

PETERSBURG, W.Va — A 79-year-old Hardy County woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident Friday on U.S. Route 220 in Grant County, according to West Virginia State Police.

Evelyn Snyder of Rig was pronounced dead at the scene following the 2:30 p.m. crash that occurred on U.S. 220 near Welton Park.

At least one other person was injured and flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, police said.

Snyder was driving a Ford Contour that collided with a Honda sedan. Immediately following the crash, a Nissan Frontier was unable to stop and struck both vehicles.

The investigation is continuing by Senior Trooper C.T. Kessel.

Grant County Sheriff’s Department, Fraley’s Am-bulance Service and volunteer fire units from Petersburg, Moorefield and Maysville also responded, according to the Grant County 911 communications center.
