Charlotte (Gragg) Griffith (San Juan Capistrano)

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. — This beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and great-aunt was born Oct. 18, 1943, in West Virginia, was raised in Cumberland, and lived the past 32 years in Southern California.

She returned regularly to Cumberland for family visits and high school reunions as a graduate of the Fort Hill class of 1961.

Her father, Howard Gragg, preceded her in death, but she leaves her mother, Martha Gragg; and brothers, Richard and Eugene, all of Cumberland; along with a nephew; five nieces; and 11 great-nephews and nieces. Also surviving are her husband, Dick; four stepchildren; and 13 grandchildren. The virtues of her life flowed into these loved families, as well as to a multitude of friends and first time acquaintances.

She never met a person that didn't experience her warmth, love and an affirmation. The active volunteering at her church, forestry service, counseling center and her grandchildren's school epitomized her spirit of outreach to serve others. All of this was stimulated by her faith in God and a life lived in the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ.

After a three-year bout with cancer, we now have the opportunity to celebrate her life on Friday, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. in Cornerstone Baptist Church, 930 Frederick St., Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Children’s Hunger Fund at 12820 Pierce St., Pacoima CA 91331, an organization she served and traveled with to Uganda, Africa in an outreach to orphans.
