MOUNT SAVAGE — David Lester Norris, 96, of Mount Savage died on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 at WMHS Frostburg Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born April 28, 1913 in Garrett, Pa., he was the son of the late Albert and Mary (Roby) Norris. He was preceded in death by his wife, Matilda “Tillie” (Bishields) Norris.
Mr. Norris was retired from the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory and during World War II he worked in the Navy Yard in Hawaii in the civilian capacity. He was a member of the Mt. Harmony United Methodist Church in Wellersburg, Pa.
Surviving are one son, Michael Norris and wife Mary Susan, Mount Savage; step-daughter Joella (Smith) Malloy, Mount Savage; grandchildren, Renee Ormsbee and husband Carl, Bear, Del., David I. Norris, Mount Savage, Elizabeth Norris, Mount Savage; step-grandchildren, Patrick Malloy, New York, Brian Malloy and wife Susan, Corriganville, Rae Ann Pfaff and husband Pete, Eckhart; great-grandson, Alex Ormsbee; step-great grandchildren, Brianna Malloy and Evan Pfaff. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Norris was the last surviving member of his family.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A. on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Mt. Harmony United Methodist Church in Wellersburg, on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with open casket viewing at 10 a.m. the Rev. Lance Tucker and David Klink will officiate the funeral service.
Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Mount Savage.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Mt. Harmony United Methodist Church.
