Arrest made in alleged rape

From Staff Reports

CUMBERLAND — Charles Robin Woods, 47, has been arrested in connection with an alleged rape that occurred at his Bedford road residence Oct. 22, according to the C3I unit.

Woods is being held in the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

The Maryland State Police and C3I investigators were contacted when the victim went to the emergency room at Memorial Hospital. The 32-year-old Cumberland woman told police that she had first met Woods at a local bar and later went home with him so that he could pick something up that he needed.

She alleged that Woods held her down by her throat and forced her to engage in sexual intercourse. The following morning, he took her to a friend’s residence, and she went to the hospital shortly afterward, she told police.

A sexual assault forensic examiner collected evidence at the hospital and C3I investigators conducted interviews and gathered additional evidence that led to the arrest warrant for Woods.

Woods has been charged with second-degree rape, second-degree sex offense, third-degree sex offense, second-degree assault and false imprisonment.
