Four-legged fashions

Jessica Straw, left, who will use the name Jessica Cheesecake for Canine Couture 2009, a dog fashion show to benefit local homeless animals, poses with Al Feldstein, who will serve as master of ceremonies. The event, sponsored by Mickey’s Miracle Crusade, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 1601 Frederick St., Cumberland. Doors will open for shopping at noon. Items for sale will include dog beds, toys, scarves and treats, tree ornaments personalized with pet’s name, T-shirts and bookmarks. Pet “designers” represented will include Canine Klein, Abercrombie and Fetch and Ruff Lauren. Refreshments will be available from the Ladies of St. Luke’s. Also featured will be door prizes, a 50/50 raffle and basket raffle. Immediately after the show there will be a live auction for the outfits worn by the 26 canine “models.” Music will be provided by Colleen Heinrich. Tickets are available at The Book Center or at the door.
