Westmar plans emergency drill

LONACONING — Westmar Middle School will conduct an evacuation drill Friday at 9 a.m. so that students and faculty are better prepared should an emergency ever arise. The Maryland State Police, Allegany County Bureau of Police and Good Will Fire Company will assist.

Students and faculty will move to designated areas outdoors and will walk to the First Assembly of God Church in a single-file line along the shoulder of state Route 36. Law enforcement will stop traffic to allow students and teachers to cross the road.

Students will be housed briefly in the Family Crisis Center building and will be escorted back to school.
