Marc Firlie, center, his mother Carole, left, and father Ed, right, show off a pair of the momentos from the Oct. 31 halftime ceremony when Marc was selected as one of the United States Naval Academy’s top eight defensive backs in the last 50 years as a member of the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial All-Stadium team as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Firlie, a graduate of Bishop Walsh High School, was the Cumberland area high school player of the year in 1982 and would go on to Navy and be first-team All-East, honorable mention All-American as well as selected to play in the Hula Bowl All-Star Game as a senior.
