More than 40 young people took advantage of a Junior Hunter Field Day conducted Oct. 17 at the Western Maryland 4H Center in Bittinger by the Maryland Wildlife & Heritage Service and numrous conservation and sportsmen groups, according to organizer Clarissa Harris. Participants were ages 8 through 16 and learned how to become involved in natural resources management. They also fired shotguns and used archery equipment and also learned about trapping, white-tailed deer and ruffed grouse hunting with bird dogs.
