FROSTBURG — Thursday will be a combination of Back to the ’50s Day and Cruisin’ Main Street Frostburg in the Mountain City, kicking off the upcoming Labor Day weekend with highlights from yesteryear, according to the organizers.

The Classy Chassis Car Club and FrostburgFirst will present the Eighth Annual Cruisin’ Main Street Frostburg. This annual event brings more than 600 cars and countless spectators to the city’s historic Main Street.

Cars will cruise from 5 to 11 p.m.

There will be free performances from the American Pie band at Mountain Ridge High School from 8 to 11 p.m. The Chinese Bandits will perform on Broadway from 8 to 11 p.m. and the Crick Rats will play live from the FrostburgFirst mobile stage that will be cruisin’ Main Street.

Angle parking for vintage car owners will be available from Water Street to Bowery Street. Registration is free and will begin at 4 p.m. at Mountain Ridge High School. Dashboard plaques and goodie bags are first come, first served to the first 300 cars registered. More than $250 and many prizes will be awarded. Participants must register to be eligible for prizes. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the Mountain Ridge Stadium Fund.

“The Frostburg Mayor and City Council are proud to recognize such a great event for our city,” said Mayor Arthur Bond. “Cruisin’ Main Street really is a wonderful event that the community can enjoy, thanks to hard work of the Classy Chassis Car Club.”

A city proclamation highlights the support of Frostburg businesses for the event. The variety of shopping and dining experiences offer choices for everyone. The event emphasizes the nostalgic theme for the evening and captures memories of an era gone by.
