WILEY FORD, W.Va. — Kenneth E. Ashenfelter, 87, of Wiley Ford, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010.
Born March 13, 1922 in Wiley Ford, he was the son of the late Ernest G. Ashenfelter and Ethel Mae (Brant) Ayres. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda (Lewis) Ashenfelter; one son, Keith Lee Ashenfelter; one grandson, Mark A. Lantz; and several brothers and two sisters
Mr. Ashenfelter was employed at South Cumberland Planning Mill and later at Lowes. He was a Mason. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II at Seward, Alaska. He donated his uniform and Army gear to the Seward Museum, where it is on display.
He was the loving father of two daughters, Barbara Vincent and husband, Dr. Clarence Vincent, Maryland and Sharon Stahl and husband John, Pennsylvania; two sons, Kenneth Ashenfelter, Pennsylvania and Randy Ashenfelter, West Virginia; four grandchildren, Stacey Turner, Ramiz Vincent, Renee Vincent and Bryan Vincent; and four great-grandchildren, Danielle, Abigail, Nathanael and Zoe; three brothers, Bob Ashenfelter, Jerry Ashenfelter, Jim Ashenfelter; two sisters, Hazel Davidson and Bonnie Harris; and several nieces and nephews.
He will be missed by his family and many friends.
At Mr. Ashenfelter’s request, he was cremated.
Due to the weather, a memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
