Catherine L. Clem [Keyser]

KEYSER, W.Va. — Catherine L. Clem, 94, of 206 Airport St., Keyser, died on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010 at Heartland of Keyser.

Born on Oct. 3, 1915 in Keyser, she was a daughter of the late Carl W. Condron Sr. and Dorothy L. (Troy) Condron. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Guy F. Clem on Feb. 29, 1980; four brothers; and four sisters.

Mrs. Clem and her husband were the owners of the Cozy Corner Restaurant in Keyser for many years. She was a former sales clerk at Maurices Department Store and the Montgomery Ward Catalog Store in Keyser. She was the longest living member of the Grace United Methodist Church, having joined the church on Mother’s Day of 1929 (80 years as of May). She was also a member of VFW Nancy Hanks Post 3518 Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are a niece, Nancy L. Condron of Keyser whom she reared along with a nephew whom she also reared, Timothy W. Condron and wife Connie of Paisley, Fla.; and a special nephew, Dr. Thomas E. Condron and wife Ellen of Bridgeport, W.Va. and their children, Marie L.Condron, Rebecca E. Wissler and husband Nick and Todd E. Condron; three sisters, Dorothy Walker of Union Bridge, Md., Pauline Sperry of Frostburg, Md. and Margaret Liller of Keyser. She is also survived by several nieces and nephew and her adored cats; and close family friend, Johnny Spitzer of Keyser.

Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James A. McCune officiating.

Interment will follow in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
