NCAA president Myles Brand announces an agreement between the NCAA and local officials which would pave the way for the NCAA to bring a number of high profile events to Indianapolis, during a news conference in Indianapolis, Feb. 4, 2004. The NCAA says Brand has died after battling pancreatic cancer. He was 67. The university president turned NCAA chief who pushed for tighter academic standards in college sports and took on Bob Knight died Wednesday.
