Mountain Ridge event Aug. 27

FROSTBURG — Mountain Ridge High School will host a Back-to-School Night on Aug. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Students and parents will meet briefly in the gym and then proceed with a seven-period schedule tour as a way to meet the staff and become familiar with the school.



Savage dam repairs start this autumn

BLOOMINGTON — The Maryland Department of the Environment recently ap-proved a construction permit that will allow the Upper Potomac River Commission to drain Savage River Reservoir so that faulty release gates can be replaced.

Work will begin this autumn and is expected to be completed by the spring.

The MDE process allows for the decision to be contested. To inquire, contact M.Q. Cas Taherian, chief of the dam safety division, at (410) 537-3547.



Frankfort freshmen go to school Monday

SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Frankfort High School will hold freshman orientation Monday at 1 p.m.

Students and parents will learn about school policies and procedures and will meet the staff, tour the building and experience a mock day.

WESTERNPORT — Westernport’s monthly council meeting will be held Monday at 6 p.m. in the Town Building.



Flintstone alumni to meet this week

ROCKY GAP — The graduates of Flintstone School will hold an alumni meeting Friday at 6 p.m. at Rocky Gap State Park, Pavilion 1.
