A residence on Harrison Street, pictured here Saturday in Cumberland, was damaged by fire on Jan. 20. Two girls — Paige M. Ford, 7, and Jymera Ford, 4 — were killed in the blaze that officials eventually determined as accidental in origin. According to City Administrator Jeff Rhodes, who recently detailed the status of several fire-affected properties, extensive communication was necessary to prompt the insurance company/owner to begin demolition. The demolition is complete but additional work is necessary to reface the exposed wall and create a parking area for the remaining units.
