CUMBERLAND — A Cumberland attorney died Saturday following a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 68.

William Stevens Hidey, 62, of Cumberland was driving eastbound near the Maryland Avenue exit when the vehicle traveled across the roadway and struck the jersey barrier, according to a news release issued by the Cumberland Police Department.

Hidey was transported by a Cumberland Fire Department ambulance to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

Investigation into the accident, which was reported shortly after 11 a.m., is ongoing by city police and the Allegany County Bureau of Police.
