Calvary, Salisbury boys fall

HAGERSTOWN — Andrew Wyand scored 14 points and Pete Craddock and D.J. Blanks added 10 to lead Broadfording Academy to a 74-42 win over Calvary in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference boys basketball game Monday evening.

Broadfording got off to a good start and led 19-4 after the first quarter. It was 39-15 at the half.

Seth Potts had a team-high 10 points for Calvary, while Ryan McKenzie added four points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals.

The Eagles (3-13, 1-11 MDCC) host Grace tonight, at 7 o’clock, weather permitting.

Shade 82

Salisbury 62

SALISBURY, Pa. — Tyler Smith hit seven 3-point goals and poured in 33 points to power Shade past Salisbury.

Smith scored 14 of Shade’s 18 first-quarter points, and had 19 at halftime.

Kenny Gibbons added 21 points for Shade, which led 36-29 at the intermission and scored 46 points in the second half.

Nick Boslet led Salisbury with 17 points. Ryan Vogt had 13 points and Scott Knopsnyder added 13 points and seven rebounds. Alex Beiler had eight points and six assists.

Broadfording 36

Calvary 33

HAGERSTOWN — Charlotte Worsfold scored 14 points and Broadfording held Calvary to 11 second-half points to pull out a 36-33 win over the Eagles Monday afternoon.

Calvary led 22-18 at halftime and 28-26 through three periods, but the Lions outscored the Eagles 10-5 in the final period.

Jo Jo Carr scored a game-high 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Calvary. Rae Heavner had six points and a team-high 12 rebounds. Haley Mason led the team with three assists and Mikala Ultis had three steals.

Calvary (4-12) hosts Grace today, weather permitting, at 5:30.
