Southern to host West Region Duals
OAKLAND — Southern Garrett will host the Class 1A/2A West Regional Wrestling Duals on Wednesday.
Weigh-ins will begin at 4:30 p.m., and the semifinal matches start at 5:30. Southern wrestles Smithsburg, and South Carroll takes on Liberty in the semifinals. The region championship match will follow the semifinals.
Southern is the defending region and state dual meet champion.
The Fort Hill at Southern girls basketball game, originally scheduled for Wednesday, has been rescheduled for Thursday evening.
Q.C Striders meet tonight at Kelly’s
LONACONING — The Queen City Striders (QCS), a local running club, is set to hold its monthly business meeting for members tonight, at 7:30, at Kelly’s Bar in Lonaconing. This will be the first meeting conducted by the newly elected 2010 club officers, who were announced at the QCS Annual Awards Banquet on Jan. 31.
Upcoming races on the club calendar will be discussed as well as the results of the 2010 members survey. All club members are welcome to attend. West Virginia 8-ballers meet Feb. 18
ROMNEY, W.Va. — The January monthly meeting of the West Virginia 8-Ball League, originally scheduled for Jan. 11, has been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 18 at the Romney VFW. The all-star game will be discussed.
Cumberland Girls Softball to sign up
CUMBERLAND — The Cumberland Girls Softball Association will hold girls softball registrations at the Constitution Park Recreation Center in Cumberland on the following dates: Monday, Feb. 15, 6 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 20, 1 to 3 p.m.; Thursday, Feb. 25, 6 to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 28, 1 to 3 p.m.
Girls ages 5-14 living in Cumberland, Oldtown and Flintstone are eligible to sign up. Any girl who recently signed up with the now defunct Allegany County Little League/Girls Softball should attend one of these registrations to have their sign-up fee for that league returned to them, and, if desired, sign up with the new Cumberland Girls Softball Association. Girls who played last year are encouraged to contact their coaches from the teams they played on last year for more information on the new league. Registration fees will be $60 per girl and a birth certificate will be required at the sign-up. Sign-up fees must be paid in full prior to the start of regular season games.
The Cumberland Girls Softball Association is affiliated with the following athletic associations which are sponsoring girls softball: PVAA/Cresaptown, LaVale Athletic Association, Frostburg, Georges Creek area (Barton, Lonaconing, Midland), Wills Creek area (Mount Savage, Corriganville, Ellerslie). Those areas are holding sign-ups for girls wishing to play this season. The Cumberland Girls Softball Association will enter into league play with these areas for the 2010 season.

Dapper Dan on-line registration available
CUMBERLAND — Players interested in signing up to play Dapper Dan Little League baseball can do so now, on-line, at www.dapperdanclub.com. A $35 registration fee is required at the time of registration. Eligible players cannot be older than 12 years of age on April 30.
Fort Hill Mothers Club meeting canceled
CUMBERLAND — The Fort Hill Football Mothers Club meeting originally scheduled for tonight has been canceled.
