GRANTSVILLE — Volunteers responded to two fires in the Grantsville area Sunday, according to the Garrett County Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management.
At 5:12 a.m., the Grantsville Fire Department, along with Salisbury Fire Department, the air unit from Deep Creek Fire Department, Northern Rescue Squad and the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office were on the scene of a basement fire at 162 Foster’s Inn Road. Though the call went out with possible injuries, there were no pa-tients transported.
Units were on the scene of the fire until about 6:30 a.m.
Later that day, the same units, along with Eastern Garrett and Bittinger fire departments and Allegheny Power, responded to a 2:09 p.m. structure fire at 3735 Chestnut Ridge Road north of Grantsville. They were on the scene for three hours.
The American Red Cross was also called in to assist the family.
No further information on the two fires was available from the state fire marshal’s office as of Sunday night.
