Hi Mike,

Thought you would be interested in this story.

I was at the Savage River this past week (lower fly fishing area) and threw out a fly (sulphur compardun #14) and a fish hit it and took it under.

I saw the fish swim with it and then I saw a flash of another fish (coming) after it and it was a good-sized fish. I stripped line and it looked like the big fish had its mouth torn open because all I could see was white.

When it got closer I saw that this big fish had another fish in its mouth, sideways.

Apparently, when the small fish took off with the fly, the big fish took off after it. I was hoping the big fish would not let go, because I wasn’t really sure who had who or what. I finally got them both in the net because the big brown would not let go of supper.

He let go in the net and I’ve attached some pictures of the fish together and me and the big fish.

The little fish was a brookie and had blood on its side and marks where the big brown (15 inches) had clamped down on it.

I couldn’t believe it as I had never seen anything like that before. Pretty amazing, but the small fish is not that small. In fact, it is over half the size of the big brown.
