CUMBERLAND — A 66-year-old Keyser, W.Va., man was arrested Monday on sex offense charges following investigation by the C3I Unit.

John Ersel Thomas was charged with sex abuse of a minor and third-degree sex offense before being jailed at the Allegany County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.

Police said the charges stemmed from an alleged offense against a 2-year-old child that allegedly took place at a Cresaptown area residence in November 2008.

The investigation was conducted by the C3I Unit, Maryland State Police and Child Protective Services. Thomas was charged Monday when he turned himself in to the C3I Unit.
