CORRIGANVILLE — An accidental fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damages to a Corriganville residence early Monday, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.
The 12:58 a.m. fire at 12340 Cash Valley Road was electrical in nature and originated in an exterior rear wall of the single-family dwelling owned by Kirk Robinette of Fort Ashby, W.Va.
The fire was discovered by a passing motorist who dialed 911 to report the incident.
Fifty volunteer firefighters from Corriganville, Mount Savage, Ellerslie, LaVale and Bowling Green responded to the scene along with LaVale Rescue Squad, Allegheny Power and Maryland State Police. Firefighters were on the scene for more than three hours.
In another report, fire of an undetermined origin in a 1994 Peterbilt tractor at a Williams Road logging site remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The fire at Williams and Precious Springs roads was reported by a passerby at 3:36 p.m. Saturday, causing damages estimated at $20,000. The tractor is owned by Furman Forest Services.
District 16 and Baltimore Pike volunteer fire companies responded to the scene.
