Concert on the Lawn
Michael and Carrie Kline will give a free summer Concert on the Lawn at The Potomac Center, 1 Blue St., Romney, W.Va., Sunday at 5 p.m. Sponsored by the Hampshire County Arts Council, the pair will perform traditional Appalachian Mountain harmonies and contemporary songs with guitar. They’ll be joined by Bill Gorby on upright bass. The Klines are preoccupied with West Virginia songs, from the ancient ballads of the Hammons Family in the central highlands, to mining laments and songs of resistance in the coal fields. They present music both as entertainment and social history. Concerts move indoors if it rains. For more information visit http://www.HampshireArts.org or call (304) 496-8201. The Hampshire County Arts Council will also present The Barnstormers on July 19 and Stringfever on Aug. 9 in free Summer Concerts on the Lawn at The Potomac Center.
