Head-on crash near Burlington injures 3

Two victims flown to area hospitals

BURLINGTON, W.Va. — Three people were injured in a head-on crash Tuesday morning on Rada Road near Russelldale Road in Mineral County.

One person was flown to Cumberland Memorial Hospital by Maryland State Police medevac helicopter and one was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown by Air-Care 4 helicopter. A third victim was taken to Memorial Hospital by Burlington ambulance following the 11:40 a.m. crash.

West Virginia State Police Sgt. J.M. Droppleman reported Raymond E. Lewis, 33, of Romney, was operating a Volkswagen convertible westbound on Rada Road when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a Ford Mustang operated by Frederick A. Hanlin Jr., 25, of Piedmont, and also occupied by Josh Hanlin, age not given.

No information was available concerning the victims’ injuries or medical conditions.

The accident remains under investigation.

Ambulances from Romney and New Creek and Fraley’s Ambulance Service also responded along with Burlington and Romney volunteer firefighters.
