6/9/09 - Friendsville man jailed after chase
OAKLAND — A 27-year-old Friendsville man was jailed on traffic charges Sunday after he allegedly attempted to elude a deputy who was trying to stop him for alleged speeding.
Christopher Edward Nair was charged with attempting to elude police and driving with license privileges suspended in addition to various traffic offenses filed by Maryland State Police, according to the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office.
Nair remained jailed Monday afternoon on $5,000 bond at the Garrett County Detention Center following a district court bail review.
Police said a deputy attempted to stop Nair on Garrett Highway shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday.
Police reportedly pursued Nair from Garrett County into Mineral County before Nair traveled into Allegany County, where he was arrested by state police.
Maryland State Police medevac helicopter assisted.
