BALTIMORE — Mark A. Keidel has been named director and chief operating officer of 1st Mariner Bank and 1st Mariner Bancorp, the bank’s parent company.
The new position will afford him the responsibility of managing the daily operations of an organization with $1.377 billion in assets and 700 employees.
The promotion was effective May 20, according to Edwin F. Hale Sr., 1st Mariner Bancorp’s chairman and chief executive. Keidel previously had served as the bank’s chief financial officer.
A native of Cumberland, Keidel is a graduate of Bishop Walsh High School and Frostburg State University. He obtained his certified public accounting credentials in 1991 and went on to attend the Bank Administration Institute Financial School. He began working for 1st Mariner in June 2000 as executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Keidel is the son of George and Anna Mae Keidel and the grandson of Edna Helmstetter, all of LaVale.
He currently resides in Woodbine with his wife, Leslie (Powell) Keidel, also a native of Cumberland, and their two sons, Garrett and Gregory Keidel.
