Six Garrett park projects receive funding

County gets $183,013 in POS money

CUMBERLAND — Garrett County will have $183,013 in state Program Open Space money to use for six park improvement projects.

• Loch Lynn Heights Athletic Complex was approved for $64,800 for construction of a parking area.

• Accident Town Park East, $5,998 for aluminum bleachers and garbage receptacles.

• Northern High School, $11,385 to upgrade the softball field.

• Avilton Community Association, $20,200 to construct a new basketball court and playground equipment.

• County-owned Crellin softball field, $7,800 for new bleachers, fences and parking area upgrades.

• Glades West Park, Oakland, $72,830 for energy-efficient lighting for the walking trail.

Gov. Martin O’Malley announced the Board of Public Works approval of 28 recreation and land acquisition projects in 10 counties through Program Open Space following the board’s Wednesday meeting.

Washington County will receive $113,208 for improvements to the horse arena at its Agricultural/Education Center, playground equipment re-placement and pool deck im-provements.
