Fort Ashby man arrested; loaded firearms seized

FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — A 33-year-old Dan’s Run Road man was arrested Friday after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and another person at a residence in Pyles subdivision, according to West Virginia State Police.

Troopers were called to the residence at about 6:30 a.m. to investigate a domestic assault complaint.

Upon arrival, Sgt. J.A. Droppleman contacted Eric S. Jones, who came out of the residence and was arrested with no further incident.

Jones was charged with wanton endangerment, unlawful possession of a firearm and two counts of assault.

Late Friday afternoon, Jones remained in custody in the Mineral County holding facility on $25,000 bond, prior to being taken to the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail in Augusta.

Neither victim required medical treatment, police said.

Troopers seized a loaded 12-gauge assault-style shotgun with additional ammunition and a loaded 30.06 rifle.

Police said alcohol factored in the incident and that Jones was also in possession of a scanner that he was apparently using to monitor police radio communications.

Jones was found in unlawful possession of firearms due to a prior conviction in a domestic assault case, police said.
