FRANKLIN, W. Va. — A Franklin woman died Friday after a car she was riding in was involved in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 220 at the entrance of Treasure Mountain Estates.

Paulene “Polly” Mae Murphy, 69, was riding in the back seat of a Ford Tempo when it was struck from behind, according to West Virginia State Police. Three other people — all of them juveniles — were taken to the hospital with injuries, a press release said.

According to police, the Ford Tempo was stopped in the northbound lane behind a Ford Fusion, which was waiting to turn left, when a third vehicle, a Ford F150 pickup truck, hit it from behind. The drivers of all the vehicles were juveniles, police said.

An investigation is continuing, and no further information was immediately available.
