Master’s degree at Potomac State

KEYSER, W.Va. — The West Virginia University Division of Social Work is accepting applications for a master of social work degree program to begin at Potomac State College in the fall.

An informational session will be held Thursday in Room 108 of the Science Hall from 6 to 8 pm. WVU faculty will provide an overview of the program and answer questions.

The MSW program is fully accredited by the Council of Social Work Education and is the only one of its kind in the state. Accepted applicants who have undergraduate degrees in programs other than social work will begin course work in the fall. Those with an undergraduate degree in social work will join those students in the fall of 2010.

Students take six graduate credit hours each semester and attend classes each summer. The program includes evening and weekend classroom instruction, distance education and online classes. It is part time and is designed for professionals already working in the field. Anticipated graduation is August 2012.

Tuition discounts for out-of-state students are offered for Allegany, Garrett, Bedford and Somerset county residents. Contact Brenda Morgan-Patrick at (304) 293-3501, ext. 3128 or Brenda.Morgan-Patrick@mail.wvu.edu.
