LONACONING — Fire investigators continue to investigate the cause of a Wednesday morning fire that consumed a two-story residence on Blubaugh Road not far from state Route 36 in the Water Station Run Road area.
No injuries were reported in the fire, which was reported to the Allegany County 911 Joint Communications Division at 8:28 a.m. by a neighborhood resident.
Goodwill Volunteer Fire Company reported the dwelling was “fully involved” in fire when its first units arrived 10 minutes after the initial alert.
Numerous companies were called to the scene, including Barton, Midland, Potomac, Ellerslie, Mount Savage, Clarysville, LaVale, Bloomington, Piedmont, New Creek and Fountain.
Georges Creek Rescue Squad also responded and Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Company stood by at Midland’s station during the incident.
The American Red Cross, Allegheny Power and Columbia Gas also responded.
Unit were still at the scene at 11:30 a.m., dousing hot spots, although the fire was reported extinguished at 9:30 a.m., according to the 911 center.
