MCHENRY — The Mountain Maryland Green Committee invites residents and local businesses to help design a logo to be used to convey the message that the mountain areas of Western Maryland care about the environment.

The committee was formed to provide information and resources on responsible management and sustainability of natural resources to businesses, public institutions and citizens of Garrett and Allegany counties.

The committee hopes to identify potential barriers to sustainable development; provide a learning network to implement strategies for sustainability; mentor businesses to adopt resource efficiency, environmental management systems and other sustainable tools; develop partnerships with surrounding communities, organizations and governments; and spread awareness and interest in sustainability through local events, conferences and workshops.

All logo entries must be original, reflect the mission and goals, and be a simple enough design to be reproduced for promotional purposes. Entries may be submitted electronically to Karen@garrettchamber.com, by mail to Karen Reckner, 15 Visitors Center Drive, McHenry, MD 21541, or dropped off at the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center in McHenry. The deadline to enter is April 3.
