FSU’s Adam Gracia Named Jewish Sports Review All-American

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Frostburg State’s Adam Gracia, a senior on the men’s soccer team, has been named a 2008 Jewish Sports Review All-American Monday.

The co-captain midfielder earned First Team Mid-Atlantic All-Region honors by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and was selected as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Year after helping FSU to a 14-5-1 overall record this fall and the ECAC South Tournament for the second-straight year.

The four-time All-AMCC and two-time First Team selection, finished fourth in the league in both points (28) and goals (11) and seventh in assists (6). Gracia ended his Frostburg State career with 20 goals and 23 assists.

Gracia, a JSR All-American in 2007, had a two-day tryout with D.C. United of Major League Soccer prior to Thanksgiving. The tryout consisted of 26 players while Gracia was the only NCAA Division III player invited.

Two years ago, Gracia and classmate Jay Herford spent time with the D.C. United Super 20 Team. Gracia was a starter on the defensive unit while Herford spent time in goal.

With the tryout, Gracia’s name was automatically put into the MLS and Supplemental Drafts this year.
