KEYSER, W.Va. — A community reception to honor Professor Emerita Ruth Ann Davis for her generous gift to Potomac State College of West Virginia University will be held Jan. 17.
Last fall, the college announced that it had received the largest single contribution ever to be made to the institution from Davis, who retired in 2001 as a professor of biology and chemistry after 18 years of service.
Her income-producing gift to the WVU Foundation on behalf of PSC totals nearly $1 million and the funds will be endowed at a future time to support nursing scholarships in memory of her mother, the late Ruth Ward Davis.
The reception will take place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Moran Manor Health Care Center in Westernport. Reservations should be made by Jan. 14 by calling Libby Nichols at (304) 788-6870.
A memory book is being compiled for former students, fellow employees and friends of Davis to write something memorable to her. Sentiments and photos can be e-mailed to LMNichols@mail.wvu.edu or mailed to Nichols at 101 Fort Ave., Keyser, WV, 26726.
