The Greater Cumberland Committee names officers

CUMBERLAND — The Greater Cumberland Committee announced its officers for 2009-2010 at its Dec. 3 meeting: David Turnbull, chairman; Kathy Getty, first vice chairwoman; Terry Stephens, second vice chairman; Rick Collins, secretary; Joe Prado, treasurer; and Kim Leonard, immediate past chairman.

Members-at-large include Olen Beitzel, Linda Bolden, Jonathan “Smiley” Kessler, Kerry Odell, David Sensabaugh, Sheri Sensabaugh and Marc Zanger.

Turnbull said he hopes to continue the group’s attention to “those regional issues that affect our ability to be economically competitive in a challenging global environment.”

The mission of The Greater Cumberland Committee is to serve as a catalyst in developing strategic multi-jurisdictional alliances, resulting in a region that is economically vibrant while supporting a positive and sustainable quality of life.

Pritts, Kesner honored by Pilgrim’s Pride

MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — The Pilgrim’s Pride Moorefield transportation department has selected Donnie Pritts and Allen Kesner as its Driver of the Month for October and November, respectively.

Pritts works in the live haul department and has been employed with the company since January 1995.

Kesner works at the prepared foods receiving dock and has been employed with the company since June 1998.

The program has been implemented to recognize drivers for their outstanding merit and work ethic.

Employees selected have exhibited outstanding work characteristics in the categories of attendance, teamwork, attitude and job performance.

Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. is the largest chicken company in the United States and Puerto Rico and the second-largest in Mexico. Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation employs approximately 48,000 people and operates 35 chicken processing plants and 11 prepared-foods facilities.



Wellness classes begin in January

CUMBERLAND — Local distributors of Herbalife International products are accepting reservations for weight loss challenge classes that will be offered on Mondays and Thursdays in January.

The wellness coaches are halfway through Monday sessions that started on Oct. 1. Six participants have collectively posted a total weight loss of 41 pounds and 36 inches. Two received excellent reports from their doctors since starting the program in regard to their diabetic conditions.

Cost for the program is shared by the winners of the challenges and a charity for obese children.
