CUMBERLAND — Tri-State Concert Association’s Country Music Division has arranged for the return of the hit show, “A Night with Garth and Friends: Tributes V.”
Entertainer Steve Fairchild will bring his popular tribute show back to the Allegany High School auditorium on March 29.
This season’s show will feature tributes to country superstars Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Alan Jackson, Johnny Cash (appearing with tribute to June Carter Cash), Rascal Flatts and Garth Brooks.
“This season’s show, developed by Steve Fairchild, is going to be one of the best we’ve had. Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson have such a fan base that we feel a tribute to these artists would be fantastic,” said Cindy Hook, a Tri-State Concert Association spokeswoman. “The loss of Johnny, June and Waylon over the last few years has left a void to those who follow country music. We felt that it was only fitting to pay tribute to these great artists. Steve has again found us the best entertainers from shows in Branson, Nashville, Las Vegas and Myrtle Beach theaters and we are so proud to have the show coming to Cumberland.”
Fairchild, performing as superstar Garth Brooks, will be emcee for the show again.
Also returning this year by popular request is Doug Brewin, reprising his role as Alan Jackson. Brewin returns with his band, Late Nite Rodeo from New Jersey. Marion Deaton, also from the 2006 show, returns as Willie Nelson. Coley Chaudion from Louisiana will perform as Waylon Jennings.
“The audience is sure to hear favorite country songs Waylon and Willie performed together over the years,” said Hook.
Jeff Tankersley will be performing as his idol, Johnny Cash. Tankersley, from Kingsport, Tenn., will perform with Deanna Marshall as June Carter Cash. Hook said their stage presence is as dynamic as the original “Johnny and June.”
Rounding out the show will be a tribute to current country superstar Rascal Flatts, which has a huge fan base from those who listen to current country. The group Third Town will perform as Rascal Flatts. Those who watched “Nashville Star” last season will recognize Third Town as one of the groups that made it to the final 10. Third Town comes to us from the Las Vegas music scene.
“A Night with Garth and Friends” will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for this event are being sold as a single night show. Seating has changed this year as all seats are now reserved.
Tickets are now available and can be purchased by calling the Tri-State Concert Association’s 24-hour call center at (301) 759-0580. Tickets can also be purchased by visiting TWR during regular business hours at 549 N. Centre St., Cumberland.
More information on the show and seating charts are available on the Web site at www.tri-stateconcerts.com.
