Hagerstown coal truck accident kills Midland man

Tractor-trailer travels out of control on exit ramp from I-70 to I-81

HAGERSTOWN — Seventy-one-year-old Alvin Dale Clise of Midland was fatally injured Monday when the tractor-trailer he was operating traveled out of control on the ramp from eastbound Interstate 70 to southbound Interstate 81.

Maryland State Police said Clise was pronounced dead at the scene following the accident in which the rig traveled out of control for unknown reasons and overturned.

Police said Clise was operating his own truck and hauling coal from the Frostburg area to Allegheny Power in Williamsport when the accident occurred at about 8:30 a.m.

The incident remains under investigation by Tfc. D. Ward of the Hagerstown barrack.
