WOOSTER, Ohio – Sami Topolski netted two goals to lift Frostburg State its third straight win, a 3-1 decision over Wooster in college women’s field hockey on Saturday afternoon.
Frostburg State (11-3) scored two second-half goals on just three shots, and won despite being outshot by the Fighting Scots (9-3) 20-9.
The first goal of the match came with 7:40 left in the first half when Topolski tipped in a pass from Breanne Russell off a penalty corner. Topolski made it 2-0 by scoring off another penalty corner with 13:01 left in the second half.
Amanda Artman scored for Wooster to cut the score to 2-1 with 6:19 remaining. Brandi Mixell scored her third goal of the season during a scramble in front of the Wooster goal with 4:09 left in play to give FSU an insurance goal and 3-1 lead.
Goalkeeper Samantha Foland made a season-high of 13 saves in the win.
Frostburg State will play at St. Vincent on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
