Mt. Lake Park residents face drug charges

OAKLAND — Ten Mountain Lake Park residents have been arrested on drug charges following five separate investigations conducted by the Garrett County Narcotics Task Force since early August.

The investigations led to execution of search warrants Aug. 26 at a B Street residence; Aug. 27 on F Street; Sept. 4 at Oakland Drive and L Street residences; and Friday on K Street.

Arrested were:

Steven Harold Kitzmiller, 40; Stephen Marvel Duckworth, 56; Beverly Ann Beitzel, 53; Christopher Acheson Beitzel, 28; Melvin Lee Minnick, 29; William Ray Woodward, 19; Cory Thomas Broadwater, 18; Jennifer Lynn Cook, 36; Karen Jean Hovatter, 51; and Marc William Burns, 23.

All of the defendants were charged with various drug offenses and were granted pretrial release to await their next court appearance, according to a spokesman at the Garrett County Detention Center.

An additional arrest is anticipated, according to a task force spokesman.

Among items seized during execution of the search warrants were marijuana, hand and digital scales, drug paraphernalia, controlled pills, heroin and hypodermic needles.

No information was available concerning the quantities or street value of the seized drugs.
