PAW PAW, W.Va. — Bishop Walsh collected a three-game sweep of Paw Paw Thursday evening in the Pirates’ season opener.
The Spartans squeezed out a 26-24 win in the first game before winning 25-19 in the second and 25-17 in the third.
BW was led in scoring by Marie Turnbull’s 16 points, 10 kills and six digs. Caitlyn McGregor added 14 points and 14 assists, and Anne Mathews had 12 kills and four digs.
Paw Paw was paced by Chalsea Wells with 16 points, four aces and one block. Lindsey Kidwell added 11 points, one ace and four blocks, and Britney Alt finished with 10 points with five aces and one kill.
The Pirates (0-1) play again today, 6 p.m., in Salisbury. Bishop Walsh (1-0) will play Saturday in Hagerstown at the St. James Tournament.
