FREDERICK — Calvary Christian Academy won the first game and was on its way to forcing a fifth game when New Life turned it on to collect a 3-1 win over the Eagles Thursday.
Taylor Ultis had 10 points with four aces and three digs for the Eagles. Emma Dequenne finished with nine points, four aces and five kills. Tiana Thompson added seven points, four aces and five kills.
Hanna Robold gave Calvary fits by scoring 23 service points.
The Eagles won the first game 25-20, but lost 25-12, 25-18 and 25-16 in the next three. They were ahead 11-5 in the fourth game before New Life rallied.
The Eagles (0-4) will play again on Tuesday when it hosts Mason-Dixon Christian Conference leader Grace Academy on Tuesday.
